Since 1994 Cheboygan County Habitat has worked tirelessly to give qualified families a hand up, not a hand out, towards a better future. Program Partners go through education on finances and upkeep on their homes along with contributing sweat equity hours on other projects to help other local families. Volunteers are given unique opportunities to give back to our community through assisting at the ReStore to process donations, or out on the jobsite to swing a hammer, even helping during events that Habitat attends throughout the year. Our ReStore accepts donated furniture and other household goods that are sold for affordable prices so everyone can shop here regardless of income or class.
Our most recent projects are two builds in Indian River that have come such a long way in a short amount of time. Both houses have drywall up and are being painted in beautiful colors that our program partners picked out themselves! Volunteers, alongside Shannon and Bruce Hypio, and Jes Bunker, worked hard on November 8th to paint these blank canvases. With lots more work ahead of us and the chill setting in we are excited to get these homes finished!
