Last fall, Cheboygan County Habitat for Humanity allied with Cheboygan Area High Schools’ Construction Trades Department in planning to build a home on Maynard Road in Cheboygan. This house was completed in April and sold. This undertaking also cultimates the Building and Trades Department’s curriculum in construction technology for the year. Ninety-three students enrolled in the Construction Technology Program last year and buiilt the Maynard Road Habitat house.

In November of the 2010-2011 School Year, students will once again build another Habitat house under the leadership of Ron Hart. This home will be built on School property and moved next May to a site in Wolverine, Michigan for Brady, Raven and Remington Bolinger. Hart said the students are looking forward to this project. Moreover, design students might link with the bulding trades group and add their skills to construction projects. All in all this is a great partnership with Cheboygan Area Schools Building Trades department and Cheoygan County Habitat for Humanity Inc.

Cheboygan County Habitat for Humanity runs a retail operation in addition to building homes in the county. The ReStore is a place where we sell donated items directly to the public.

Some of the things that you may find in the ReStore include household items, such as dinner ware, sets of matching glasses, pots & pans and decorative items. We also carry plumbing supplies, such as sinks and toilets, furniture and appliances.

Since everything we carry has been donated to us, we never know what we may have on any given day. But sometimes browsing for that item that speaks to you is half the fun. Our Habitat ReStore is open Monday – Friday from 9am to 5pm and on Saturday from 7:30 am to 3:00pm. You can drop your donation off at the ReStore or ask that our ReStore truck pick up your items. Call the Habitat ReStore at 231-597-9463.
